For years, I searched for the words to explain what it felt like to move through life with both Autism and ADHD.

The constant tension between needing structure and resisting it. The exhaustion of trying to keep up with expectations that never quite made sense. The frustration of knowing I was capable yet struggling with things that seemed easy for everyone else.

I needed something that went beyond medical definitions—something that captured the lived experience of being an AuDHD adult. A book that did not just describe the condition but actually spoke to the people living it.

But I could not find it.

So I wrote it.

  • • You have always felt different but never had the words to explain why.

    • You have been diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, or both, and you are trying to make sense of what that means for you.

    • You mask your struggles so well that people assume you are fine, even when you are drowning.

    • You have spent years feeling like you are too much for some people and not enough for others.

    • You have been dismissed, misunderstood, or told you just need to try harder.

    • You want to understand yourself better, but everything you have read so far feels too clinical, too distant, too unlike your actual life.

  • This book does not just explain what AuDHD is—it helps you explore what it means for you.

    • The push and pull between needing structure and resisting it

    • The weight of expectations—both from others and from yourself

    • The exhaustion of masking and the fear of unmasking

    • The cycle of hyperfocus and burnout

    • The deep need for connection, but the challenge of maintaining it

    • The constant questioning of whether you are too much for the world around you

No two neurodivergent brains are the same. No two experiences are identical. That is why this book does not tell you who you are—it helps you figure that out for yourself.

Reflection Prompts to Guide Your Own Discovery

A diagnosis does not come with a manual. Understanding your own neurodivergence is a deeply personal journey. This book includes reflection prompts throughout, designed to help you explore how AuDHD manifests in your life, your challenges, and the strengths you may not have even recognised yet.

    • How does masking show up in your day-to-day life?

    • Where do you feel most at ease being yourself?

    • What expectations have you placed on yourself that may not actually belong to you?

    • What strategies have worked for you in the past, and what patterns keep repeating?

These prompts are not about fitting into a label—they are about understanding yourself in a way that allows you to live more authentically.

Practical Strategies to Help Navigate Life with AuDHD

While self-discovery is an important part of this book, it also provides practical, real-life strategies to help you navigate the unique challenges of AuDHD.

    • How to work with your brain instead of fighting against it

    • Managing executive dysfunction and finding systems that actually work for you

    • Navigating burnout, emotional exhaustion, and sensory overwhelm

    • Building supportive relationships without compromising who you are

    • Structuring your life in a way that fits your strengths and needs, rather than forcing yourself into a neurotypical mold

This is not a self-help book that tells you how to change. It is a book that helps you understand why you do not need to.

  • Because I have lived it.

Because I know what it is like to feel broken, only to later realise that I was never broken at all—I was just different, and no one had ever taught me what that meant.

Because I know the power of finding the right words—how it can change everything when you finally see yourself clearly.

Because I know how isolating it is to feel like no one else thinks the way you do, until you hear someone describe their experience, and for the first time in your life, you think, That is me.

If You Have Ever Wondered, “Why Am I Like This?”—This Book is for You

You are not alone. You are not failing. You do not need fixing.

And you are not imagining it.

This book is the validation I wish I had years ago. It is the words I needed when I could not explain what was happening inside my own head. It is the message I want every undiagnosed, newly diagnosed, or struggling neurodivergent adult to hear.

You deserve to understand yourself. You deserve to have the words to describe your experience.

The book is available in paperback, Kindle, and digital download.
